Zimbabwean Famous Buns

4 1/2 cups plain flour

4 1/2 teaspoons yeast

1 cup milk

1/2 cup sugar

3/4 cup water

1/2 cup cooking oil

1/2 teaspoon salt


Method.....


Mix 2 cups of flour with yeast and put aside.

In a separate bowl,  heat milk , water,  oil, sugar and salt to luke warm in the microwave (1 minute 30 seconds )

Add all at once to the flour mixture and beat until smooth.

Mix in the remaining  flour to make soft dough.

Mix well until dough is soft and slightly sticky then put the dough into a floured bowl cover with oiled cling wrap and let it rest for 15 minutes.

Shape dough into the size that you want approximately 12-15 buns and put in a greased baking pan. Leave it to rise until double in size (approximately 45 -60 minutes)

Put in the oven and bake @ 180°C until they are golden brown. (15-20 minutes)


For the glaze...

Mix 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of water until the sugar dissolves


After taking out the buns from the oven just brush them with the glaze to give them a shiny and appetising look.
